Eat, Play, Watch, Repeat:
A Night at Baseline Social
For this Culture Coverage feature, we stopped by Baseline Social, the Oceanport hotspot transforming the old Fort Monmouth commissary into a full-blown playground for food lovers, sports fans, and anyone who just wants a good time. General Manager Joe walked us through how this massive space became one of Monmouth County’s most immersive hangouts: part sports bar, part lounge, part entertainment hub, and fully committed to keeping the vibe high from day to night.
From Fort Monmouth History to a Modern Social Hub
Baseline Social sits inside a building loaded with local history, now completely reimagined into a 17,000+ square-foot home for good food, big screens, and even bigger energy. What could’ve been just another bar became a multi-level experience: lounge seating, multiple bars, a mezzanine, and a 640-square-foot LED screen that dominates the room and can split into whatever the moment calls for.
The team didn’t just fill the space, they built a place; a spot where locals can watch the game, grab dinner, host a party, or dive into everything from cocktails to golf swings. It’s the rare kind of venue that can be loud, social, and elevated all at once.
Bar Food, But Done Right
If you ask the Baseline crew what sets the menu apart, they’ll tell you straight: it’s comfort food made with intention. The kitchen hand-breads its own chicken. The skirt steak is a sleeper hit. The entrées go beyond what you’d expect from a sports-heavy space. And the sushi program, something new they’re testing and refining, already has regulars buzzing.
Add in an all-day happy hour (until 6 p.m.) and cocktails like the All-Star Martini made with Nalovacca, cashew fruit, and a Prosecco float, and the food and drink program starts feeling a lot more curated than your typical bar lineup. Fast-paced, high-volume, and consistently solid. That’s the goal, and they hit it!
Where Screens Meet Swing Suites
What really separates Baseline is the “choose your experience” energy built into the place. Five full-swing golf bays anchor one section, offering everything from legit golf play to interactive games like soccer, basketball, baseball, football, and rugby. It’s competitive, fun, and the perfect excuse to turn a night out into an activity.
Mixed with the massive LED wall, the surround sound, and the multiple lounges spread across two floors, the atmosphere becomes something closer to an entertainment arena than a bar. It’s sensory, social, and tailor-made for groups, from friends linking up after work to families rolling in on weekends.
Everything You Want, All in One Place
Joe describes Baseline as “a great vibe— everything you can ask for,” and it makes sense. It’s the versatility that makes it special. Whether you’re here for drinks, dinner, the game, a swing session, or just the energy of a packed room, the space adapts.
In a region full of neighborhood bars and coastal eateries, Baseline Social stands out by doing something different: blending food, entertainment, and community into one cohesive experience. It’s not just where Oceanport watches the game. It’s where they gather, play, celebrate, and stay longer than they planned.
